South Africa - A Road Trip is photographer Mirjam Bleeker and artist Frank Visser's ode to South Africa’s stunning nature and to its people. It tells the story of a road trip along the coast and through the inland, across vast nature reserves and bustling cities. Besides vibrant images and beautiful artwork, the book also includes a practical and removable guide, with addresses and tips.
For the past twenty years, photographer Mirjam Bleeker and artist Frank Visser have been travelling around the world together. They love to travel without a fixed plan, so that they can be surprised by unexpected adventures and encounters. A few years ago, they fell in love with South Africa.
This book is an ode to South Africa’s stunning nature and to its people. It tells the story of Mirjam’s and Frank’s road trip. Along the way they catch up with old friends and make new ones. The book contains beautiful photos of these inspiring people and their homes, as well as breathtaking photos of nature and city scenes.
After their return Frank and Mirjam started creating collages and illustrations based on the images they collected on their trip. These artworks were incorporated into the book as backgrounds and connecting images between the chapters corresponding with the country’s different regions. The book also includes a practical and removable guide, with addresses and tips.
About the authors
Artist Frank Visser works on thought-provoking projects under the name IJM, which are regularly published in international design magazines. Mirjam Bleeker is a freelance photographer. She travels the world, often together with Frank, in search of the most beautiful and extraordinary locations and people. Her work has been published in numerous international travel and interior design magazines. They are the authors of At the Ocean and Close to Nature. Mirjam and Frank are based in Amsterdam.
